If you’ve never seen your mom naked, comedian Chelsea Handler gladly will fill you in on the experience.

In her new book, My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, she begins with her memory of walking in on her parents having sex — when she was seven. And she did it on purpose.

Although the image of her mom has since subsided, Handler said she has yet to snap back from seeing her dad in the nude, and she’ll be continuing her road to recovery as she performs tomorrow night at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium as a part of Moms Weekend events.

The former star of Oxygen’s Girls Behaving Badly, Handler now has her own show on E!, The Chelsea Handler Show, as well as a spot on MSNBC’s Scarborough Country as a “Hollyweird Correspondent.”

University Program Council sponsored the performance, paying about $7,500 to bring Handler to OU. Cherish Odom, UPC special events chair, said the upcoming performance has been hyped among students and people outside of Athens traveling to see the show.

“Her comedy has been called racy; however, I think it is something females can identify with,” Odom said.

Chris Knies, trade book manager at Follett’s University Bookstore, 63 S. Court St., said Handler’s book sold out Wednesday, and they have ordered more copies for today.

That Handler is performing as part of Moms Weekend was a surprise to the comedian.

“All the moms are going to be there too? This will be very, very fun,” she said, adding that she plans to party with moms after the show. “I think every mother needs to be corrupted … and live vicariously through me. They’re not having nearly as much fun as I am,” she said.

Before the performance, Handler said she’s preparing by having three Ketel One vodkas — but she won’t get too wasted.

“I still have to remember some degree of material,” she said.
