On Tuesday, a majority of the 36-member Athens County Republican Executive Committee recommended Aundrea Carpenter-Colvin as one of its two Athens County Board of Elections members.
Republican Party Chairman Pete Couladais said the committee is confident Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner will approve the recommendation.
Carpenter-Colvin, who would be the first Republican woman to serve on the board, would replace former Republican member Dick Mottl, who resigned effective Dec. 31. Carpenter-Colvin was chosen from a group of three candidates, including attorney Larry Wines and former Athens City Councilman Ed Baum, Couladis said.
She will join Republican board member Howard Stevens and two Democrats on the board.
