Ohio forward leaves women's basketball

The Ohio women's basketball team will be dominated even more by underclassmen next season, because junior forward Maja Mitrovic has quit the team.

Mitrovic said she has "decided to pursue different things for personal reasons".

The decision came a few weeks ago, but Mitrovic said she thought a long time about what she wanted to do before making the decision. Ohio coach Marsha Reall, who could not be reached for comment, helped Mitrovic come to the decision.

"Marsha and I kind of got to the solution that it is best for me to leave the team," Mitrovic said.

Mitrovic was third on the team in points (9.0) and rebounds (5.1). Her departure leaves junior Danielle Longnecker as the only upperclassman on the team.

Mitrovic said she has no plans on transferring to another school to play basketball. Instead, she will concentrate on graduating next year. She has a double major in finance and economics.
