Dyke, dyke... goose!

THE POST

Do people really have gaydar? How does one tell a person's sexual orientation?

One way is through games such as "Pick-A-Dyke," a game that Swarm of Dykes, OU's queer awareness group, played on College Green last week.

"It's a game that we did to raise visibility for queers on campus," SOD President Kaitlin Sweet said. "We had a group of people who were of different genders and sexual orientation, and people just had to ask them questions to see who it was."

Sweet said the Swarm gave away condoms and candy, provided by the Athens AIDS Awareness Task Force, as prizes for PAD winners.

Sweet said participants weren't limited to the number of questions they could ask, so PAD really has no losers.

Games like this are nothing new. Howard Stern plays "Pick the Gay Guy" from time to time on his radio show and his E! cable program.

"It came from a lot of different places," Sweet said. "They did this on the University of California's campus."

The women in question didn't get many tough questions during the first game of PAD. Most people asked things such as "what's your name" and "what's your major."

"A popular question was 'If you could be any woman in history who would you be?'" Sweet said.

SOD isn't planning on playing PAD again, anytime soon. With winter coming, games on the green in general will be phased out with the cold.

"We're not going to do it anymore this quarter," Sweet said. "We might play it again in the Spring."

But where will students go for there gender bending game fix until then?

Listen to Stern's game, listen to some of the tougher questions Dr. Drew filed on MTV's Loveline, check out the new RealWorld , watch RuPaul program, or just rent The Crying Game.
