Senate addresses Dysart

     Student Senate unanimously resolved to take a stand against the destruction of Dysart Woods.

     The senate passed a resolution at yesterdayÕs meeting that states, "the (senate) Environmental Awareness Commissioner, on behalf of Student Senate, will write to Lisa Morris, chief of the Ohio Division of Mines and Reclamation to express our opposition to any mining closer to or underneath Dysart Woods..."

     The Ohio Division of Mines and Reclamation granted the Ohio Valley Coal Co. permission to mine an area a few miles upstream from Dysart Woods. The company is seeking to mine areas close to and possibly underneath Dysart Woods.
