Israeli's death to test peace accord
AP

HEBRON, West Bank (AP) - The body of the young Israeli settler lay sprawled in a pool of blood on the dusty street, one foot clad only in a sock. Angry Jewish settlers and grim-faced Israeli soldiers milled about nearby.

Yesterday's execution-style killing in the divided town of Hebron was the first slaying of an Israeli in the West Bank since the signing of the new land-for-security agreement. And it also marked a key first test of the accord.

For Adam Smith, a sophomore on the Ohio cross country and track teams, deciding to compete as a runner was an easy choice to make.

    Rivalry is bigger than football
    by Rob Peirce
    THE POST

OK, this is it. No more fooling around. The Mid-American Conference Eastern Division crown might be out of reach for the Ohio football team, but one huge goal looms in place of it. The Bobcats MUST defeat the Miami RedHawks Saturday.

North Carolina-Duke, USC-UCLA, Auburn-Alabama and Ohio State-Michigan are no match for the intense rivalry that is Ohio-Miami.

Eight. It's the number which coaches and media alike keep reminding Ohio of.

Eight. It's the number of wins Ohio had in its entire 30-match schedule last autumn.

Now, though, after a pair of victories at home this weekend over Toledo and Eastern Michigan, it's the number of wins the Bobcats have in conference play alone.
