TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Damon Frierson scored 13 of Miami of Ohio's last 21 points, including five in overtime as Miami held off Bowling Green 60-56 last night in a Mid-American Conference tournament semifinal.

The RedHawks (22-6), the tournament's top seed, advance to meet Kent in tonight's championship game at SeaGate Centre.

Miami's Wally Szczerbiak, the MAC's player of the year, was held to a season-low 16 points before fouling out with 1:17 left in overtime.

Frierson, however, took over.

His two free throws with 1:35 left had given the RedHawks a 55-54 lead. Szczerbiak then fouled Bowling Green center Len Matela, with the freshman hitting both shots to give the Falcons (18-10) their final lead.

Miami isolated Frierson at the other end and he bobbed and weaved before hitting a 15-foot jumper with 47 seconds left.

With 14 seconds left, Frierson hit a foul shot to push the lead to 58-56.

Frierson then made one last big play when he took a charge from Bowling Green's Dave Esterkamp on a drive with 5 seconds left.
