Local man's record collection preserves old-time music
by Leslie Basalla
THE POST

Charles Kohrmeyer's record collection is so large it has its own building.

The retired Lodi township man said he has no idea exactly how many records he owns, but they - along with an assortment of old radios and stereo equipment - take up every available inch of space in the large shed where they are housed. From the appearance of the room, one would have to estimate his collection numbers more than 1,000 recordings.

by Rob Harvilla
THE POST

You can't just arbitrarily slap an exclamation point at the end of your band's name. You have to earn it.

The young studs in the jazzy Latin-flavored rock trio Martizatic! certainly deserve a little embellishment. They have, after all, proclaimed themselves "Athens' Sexiest Band."

Cyclists warned
by Tschanen Niederkohr
THE POST

The weather has been sunny and students have been out and about on their bikes. But, local authorities warn, students need to watch out where they ride.

It is against the law in Athens to ride a bike, skateboard or rollerskate in the Uptown area. It also is illegal to ride across College Green or to take a bike into an Ohio University building. These are problems local authorities face every year.

by Sara Havens
THE POST

If Life is Beautiful would have come out a year earlier, it would have blasted Titanic out of the water in the race for the Oscar - in any language. The film was flawless, creating an impressive balance of comedy and tragedy - the key ingredients of all great films.

First, the meet has been named the Southern Cup Championship and the winning school's name will be engraved on a cup. The men's and women's points will be combined to determine who keeps the cup each year.
