WOUB to air Emmy-nominated documentary

THE POST

WOUB-TV in Athens will be one of the PBS stations that will broadcast the documentary The Lark Quartet: A Year In A Residency, later this year.

The film has the distinction of a regional Emmy nomination. David Urano, senior media producer for OU Media Productions, said the documentary is nominated in the Documentary Program category in the Midwestern Regional Emmy Awards.

The nominees for the 35th annual running of the event were announced April 14th. The awards will be given out May 15.

The documentary covers the lives and music of the female string quartet consisting of Diane Pascal and Jennifer Orchard on violin, Anna Kruger on viola and Astrid Schween on cello during their one-year stay at Ohio University as artists-in-residence.

The show contains the group performing a wide variety of musical selections from composers such as Mozart, Brahms and Schumann. The quartet also is shown rehearsing new pieces and playing in venues ranging from elementary schools to nursing homes.

Urano, who also produced and directed the film, said the documentary will be fed to PBS stations on May 24, and those stations may air the program any time after June 1. The special has already generated interest in other areas across the country.
