Senate supports state student government

Last night the Ohio University Student Senate passed a resolution supporting the newly formed Ohio Council of Student Governments.
OU was instrumental in the formation of the council earlier this quarter. Since then, eight Ohio public schools have gotten involved, Senate President Darien Moss said.
This has been a great way to increase the state wide communication among Ohio schools, Moss said.
Schools participating are OU, Miami University, Bowling Green State University, Kent State University, University of Toledo, University of Akron, Ohio State University and Wright State University, she said.
The council still needs to approve a constitution and elect new executives, she said.
There are five committees on the council, Moss said. Each student government is required to send two people to each quarterly meeting, and there is also an e-mail distribution list to increase communication.
The council also will expand to include other private and public schools, Moss said.
"I can really see this taking off and being good," said Todd Grandominico, state and federal commissioner.
