Shakespeare in Love
The soundtrack for Shakespeare in Love proves one thing - while movies may need music for dramatic and emotional impact, sometimes the music needs the movie.

While the music is used and not just "inspired by" the movie, without the visuals of Shakespearean England it doesn't carry the impact the movie did.

The soundtrack attempts to trace the story arc of the movie and even uses the song titles to show this.

Whether it be The Beginning of the Partnership, The Prologue or Curtain Call, the songs go in order as they are heard in the movie. It's as if producer Stephen Warbeck expected that by just placing the songs in the same order, they alone would carry the same effect as the movie.

The CD does have its moments of emotional intensity. Shakespeare would like it - but he probably wouldn't fall in love with it.
