DeeJay Punk-Roc
"Calling all cars. Calling all cars. Be on the lookout for a mean mother f-er with dimples carrying a black beatbox."

Such is the description DeeJay Punk-Roc gives of himself. Truly, though, he isn't that threatening. In fact, his first album, Chickeneye would perhaps be best equated with the works of Digable Planets.

Punk-Roc infuses jazzy riffs with loungey phrases and disco beats. Although the DeeJay occasionally throws in some punk piss-offed-ness, as in the songs "The World is My Ashtray," or "Kill Everyone," he is best described as a beatnik with a sampler.

The album is a tossed salad. Punk-Roc juxtaposes beats but doesn't melt them down. He is a great example of garage spinning, but the music lacks the personality of Digable Planets (but who could compete with Buttafly, Ladybug, or the Doodlebug).

Is it danceable? Test it out on your player, check the beats out.
