Women's golf finishes second in championship

The Kings Island Golf Center in Mason is not the PGA's Masters in Augusta.
But for the Ohio women's golf team, last weekend at the Mid-American Conference Championship, it sure did feel like it.
"The course was in great shape," said Ohio head coach Nicole Hollingsworth. "It played very long, nothing like last year. The pin placement was like playing the Masters. It was five times harder than last year."
The Bobcats finished one step lower than they expected at the tournament. They finished in second place 25 strokes behind freshman led Kent, which scored 932 after the three-day tournament.
"If you can't win, you sure want to finish second," Hollingsworth said. "But I'm not satisfied. We thought we could win."
Heather Fueger led the team with a third place finish scoring 234 for the championship. She was nine strokes behind winner Jen Dowling from Kent and two strokes out of second place.
"Looking back, my goal was to break 80 three times and I did that," she said. "I'm happy, but not satisfied. It always hurts to lose."
After spending a week with her pro, Julee Sovesky broke free from her recent slump this season finishing in fifth place with a three-round total of 235.
Both Fueger and Sovesky were announced as first team All-MAC members following the championship in Mason.
"I was really exited," Fueger said. "It's a great honor and its been a personal goal of mine."
Candace Artz also was honored following the championship by being named a member of the All-MAC second team. Artz finished in seventh place with a score of 239.
Julie Harter also placed for the Bobcats with a score of 252 that put her in a tie for 17th.
