THE POST

Athens, Ohio * An Independent Daily Newspaper * Ohio University
Web address misprinted

Editor,

Thank you for the informative article "Freshmen adjusting to new computers in residence halls" in yesterday's Post.

I feel I should mention the Web address printed in the article regarding computer training for students was incorrect; the correct Web address is http://www.ohiou.edu/css/training/stuseminar.html.

At this address, students will find a complete list of our free computer-training seminars as well as the dates, times and locations of the seminars.

Another helpful Web address for online, Computer-Based Training that students (as well as faculty and staff members) might be interested in visiting is http://www.ohiou.edu/css/training/seminar.html.

On this Web page, click on "Computer Based Training." or click on "Knowledge Base" on the same Web page to search our online Computer Knowledge Base for answers to common computer questions and problems.

Ping prices discouraging

Editor,

The price you pay for Ping during the summer and the rest of the year is the exact same, but there's a glitch. During the summer, Ohio University charges by each session, both of which last five weeks apiece. I did not attend classes, so I had to pay daily, as opposed to those who automatically pay as a part of their tuition.

I forked over $34.50 for a Second Session membership. When I looked at my receipt, I noticed it said the expiration date was Aug. 20, which is when the date for the session ends. But what about the last two weeks of summer before school starts? I have to pay $5 a day to go to Ping!

I think OU should cut us some slack. I am a full-time student three quarters a year and OU already receives a ton of money for Ping through people who have to pay tuition but never use Ping. I use Ping frequently, but for two weeks I was out of a membership and it just seemed to be a rip-off.

Correction

"Freshmen adjusting to new computers in residence halls," Sept. 7. The correct Web address is http://www.ohiou.edu/css/training/stuseminar.html. "Faculty protests pay raise," Sept. 7. OU President Robert Glidden did not immediately return requests for comment. This fact was omitted from the story.
