Volleyball defends title in Bromley Invitational

THE POST

The Ohio volleyball team will play host to four teams from around the country this weekend in its annual Bromley Invitational. Cincinnati, Murray State, Cleveland State and Tennessee State will all descend upon The Convo today to try to wrest the title from the Bobcats, who are defending champs. Ohio Head Coach Ellen Dempsey thinks that this year's field will be one of the tournament's strongest.

"We're defending tournament champions, but this year we have a tough field," Dempsey said. "They're all very respectable."

Dempsey said that while Cincinnati and Ohio are from the best conferences (Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference) and are probably the most physically imposing teams, the other three teams have a lot of talent.

"Conference USA is probably a more elite conference as is the MAC, as opposed to Cleveland State's conference, but they are always very respectable. They beat us last year and we always have good games with them."

Tennessee State, Murray State and Cleveland State will bring a solid defense and good ball-control to the tournament, Dempsey said.

The tournament begins today at 11 a.m..
