He was an Army sergeant when he attended OU through the GI Bill in 1987. He majored in accounting and graduated cum laude in 1992.

Ohio safe from nuclear leaks

The Ohio University Police Department is investigating five sexual assaults that have occurred since the beginning of the school year.

Last year, 23 sexual assaults were reported. OUPD already has exceeded the number of reports from this time last year.

Hudson to offer mental health help

The Counseling and Psychological Services will hold its seventh annual depression screening Thursday on the third floor of Hudson Health Center.

The screenings begin at 1:10 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. in room 305, with each session lasting one hour. There is no charge for the screenings, which are anonymous and open to any Ohio University student.

Smokin' Grass brings new, diverse melodies to town

Santosusso plays bass for Smokin' Grass, a "newgrass" band from Vermont. The band has performed in about thirty states, and is rolling into Athens for the first time today.

Ohio University junior Becky Brunner anticipates running into on-coming traffic whenever she drives down Mill Street to her Stewart Street home.

"People fly by," Brunner said. "And half the time they're on the wrong side of the road. Traffic control should be improved - especially when bikers are on the road, because it's hard to miss them."

Writer gives 'right' message

Renowned writer, politician and television personality William F. Buckley Jr. spoke yesterday at Ohio University's Memorial Auditorium, kicking off this year's Kennedy Lecture Series.

Buckley's lecture, "Reflections on Current Contentions," lasted about an hour and was followed by a question and answer session.

County may move food program

Crops could be the Athens County Dog Shelter's next tenant if the county approves a Community Food Initiatives proposal that was presented at yesterday's Athens County Commissioners meeting.
