Nelsonville worker arrested for loaded gun

A Nelsonville city employee was arrested Wednesday for carrying a loaded 9 mm handgun in his car while working.

Albert Chilcote, 36, of 855 High St., Nelsonville, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth degree felony, after a police officer pulled him over Wednesday at 1:15 a.m., according to a Nelsonville Police Department report.

The police first were warned about Chilcote's weapon March 28.

Chilcote, who works for the Streets Department, is in jail awaiting his first appearance at Athens County Municipal Court.
