Albany man receives sentence for drug sales

An Albany man was sentenced yesterday for his involvement in a drug bust last spring.

Henry C. Levine, of Albany, was sentenced to 14 days of jail time for one count of selling marijuana, said Judge Alan Goldsberry of the Athens County Court of Common Pleas. Levine also must serve two to five years on community control and undergo a substance abuse assessment.

Levine's driving license also was suspended for one year. But he is allowed to drive for work-related purposes, Goldsberry said.

In addition, Levine must pay a $1,600 forfeiture fee. This fee is in place of forfeiting his car, which was used in the drug transactions.

The charge is a result of an incident last May at Amerihost Inn, 20 Home St., according to court records. Levine sold eight bags of marijuana to an undercover police officer.

Levine pleaded guilty to the charge on January 30.
