Workshop in theatre skills offered
Tonight Ohio University students will have the chance to gain some acting
skills that were perfected in the land down under.
Australian author and researcher Elisabeth Burke is presenting a
program of theater exercises for building cooperation at 7:30 p.m. in
311 Gordy Hall.
Burke has been the co-artistic director of Australia's training-based
theater company for 20 years. She has been using these exercises to improve
relations among diverse groups, according to a news release.
Her most recent work was with a community theater project that brought
more than 70 performers together to interpret Dante's Inferno through
music and narration. The production was said to have broken down barriers
and focused on values shared in the arts and business communities.
Burke will be in Athens all week and will be participating in the
OU Institute for Applied and Professional Ethics conference on Saturday,
said Kathleen Evans-Romaine, assistant director of the institute.
