Michaela Board, with calf named Phoenix, at the family farm in Membury, southwest England yesterday. Phoenix has been saved from the foot-and-mouth cull after the government amended its slaughter policy. The whole herd at the farm was culled when a farm nearby was confirmed with the foot-and-mouth disease infection, but the week-old calf Phoenix was discovered still alive, and will be allowed to live, following a change of government policy.
