Acclaimed journalist to speak in Athens

Susan Stamberg, a nationally renowned broadcast journalist, will be speaking at 8 tonight in Ohio University's Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

Stamberg, a special correspondent for National Public Radio, is the first woman to anchor a national nightly news program. She has won every major award in broadcasting, according to a news release.

Stamberg is well-known for her conversational style, intelligence and ability to find an interesting story, according to the release. She is considered a pioneer of National Public Radio and has been on staff since the network began in 1971. She also is the author of two books and co-editor of another.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is part of the OU Kennedy Lecture Series. It will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
