Van Selm Earns MAC Honor

Ohio women’s swim team co-captain Kim van Selm was named Mid-American

Conference Co-Swimmer of the Week Tuesday, marking the second time this season she has earned the distinction. Van Selm shares the honor with Eastern Michigan’s Sarah Conger.

Van Selm set two season-high times in winning the 200 freestyle (1:52.44) and the 500 freestyle (4:57.26) in meets against Ball State and Toledo last weekend. She also picked up a win with swimmers Trisha Kessler, Samantha Pfaller and Emily Frasco in the 400 freestyle relay (3:30.55).

Van Selm said earning this award was one of her goals coming into the season.

“Winning Swimmer of the Week is always something to strive for,” she said. “To be recognized out of the whole conference is a great achievement. To win this honor twice this year is more than I could ask for.”
