Renowned speaker to address terrorism
Because the topic of terrorism still is fresh on the
minds of some Ohio University students, OU’s College Republicans brought
author and speaker Dinesh D’Souza to Athens to share his views.
“Of course, the topic was timely and we wanted something that would
be interesting,” said Joshua McNary, vice president of the College
Republicans, a conservative organization that emphasizes the value
of freedom. “I personally have seen him speak in the past as well
as other College Republicans, and we knew he was a good speaker.”
The College Republicans needed about $7,000 to fund D’Souza’s trip
to campus. OU’s Student Activities Commission and Young America’s
Foundation, an organization that helps young Americans incorporate
individual freedom into their lives, contributed most of the funds.
D’Souza’s achievements include working as the senior domestic policy
analyst at the White House during the Reagan Administration, writing
several books on issues such as racism and education and speaking
at universities across the nation, according to a news release.
