One-car accident seriously injures two
A one-car accident in York Township on Jan. 7 left the driver and passenger
seriously injured.
Joveta Konkler, 18, of New Lexington, was driving a 1985 Dodge Aries
on County Road 1A north of U.S. 33 according to an Ohio State Highway
Patrol news release. The car drove off the right side of the road and
hit two trees.
Richard J. Hine, 19, of Nelsonville, was in the passenger's seat.
Konkler and Hine were taken to Doctor's Hospital in Nelsonville.
They then were airlifted to Grant Hospital in Columbus. They are listed
in serious condition in Grant's Intensive Care Unit.
Larry Goss, OSHP dispatcher, said speeding and improper lane change
might have been causes of the accident. Both Konkler and Hine were wearing
seat belts. The accident is still under investigation.
