Bobcat breaks school record

Guard Cathy Szall broke the school record for career three pointers in the Ohio women's basketball game against Bowling Green on Saturday.

Szall went into the game against the Falcons with 118 three-point field goals. She was tied for first place on the school's list for career three pointers with Marlene Stollings, who played from 1997-98. Scoring three three pointers in the game, Szall now stands in first place with 121.

Szall also tied her career high, 25 points Saturday against Bowling Green. She was also the team's highest scorer for the game.

Moorman Named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week

Forward Lori Moorman was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week on Jan.1.

The honor was for the week of Dec. 25 to 31, which included the State Farm Classic in Gainesville, Fla., Dec. 28 and 29.

Moorman leads the Bobcats with 74 field goals this season. She averages 15.6 points per game and has shot a 61.2 percent from the floor this season. Moorman also leads the team in rebounds with an average of 5.6 per game.

Moorman has been the Bobcats’ leading scorer in five of the team's 13 games this season including a 37-point performance against Tennessee State Dec.29 at the State Farm Classic. Her performance put her in third place on the school's list for points scored in a single game.

Negrelli leaves Bobcats

Guard Jacquie Negrelli decided to leave the women's basketball team after playing in the first seven games of the season.

Negrelli was the team's top scorer in five of the seven games she played in this season, scoring a total of 95 points in those seven games. She shot an average of 50 percent from the field for the games in which she played.

Negrelli was expected to be one of the team's leaders this season, returning as the team's top scorer with 14.6 points per game. She also led the team in steals with a 4.5 average per game and in assists with a total of 125 for last season. This total was the seventh most in school history.

Negrelli left the team due to personal reasons.

Looking ahead

The Bobcats hit the road for the first time in MAC play this season to head to Toledo tomorrow night. The team will be looking for its first conference win of the season.

"We keep working towards winning," coach Lynn Bria said. "We're getting better and better at the things we work really hard at."

The Bobcats return home against Buffalo on Saturday at 7 p.m. at The Convo.
