China Fortune Provides OK Experience

The staff wasn't attentive. The meals weren't on time.
But China Fortune provides a yummy dining experience.
When arriving at China Fortune, 15 W. Union St., expect to be ignored.
Three employees surrounded the patrons, but because they were so busy,
their presence went unnoticed. When they finished doing what it was that
averted their attention, my dining companion and I were seated.
Once seated, a friendly waitress arrived with two glasses of water.
She had a bright smile on her face, and she immediately asked if it was
time to order.
Ordering was the hardest part of the whole meal, and China Fortune
is not very flexible in making special arrangements for meals. I asked
for a combination platter of General Tso's Chicken, but they were not
willing to make one, even though every other combination platter cost
the same as the regular meal.
The wonton soup came first, which started the meal in the correct
order of courses. But no more than two minutes later, the waitress brought
the egg roll, which was supposed to come with the sweet-n-sour chicken
dinner.
Two minutes later, the waitress delivered the General Tso's Chicken,
which was very tasty. The broccoli was fresh, the chicken was tender and
the sauce was a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The white rice
with soy sauce complimented the meal perfectly.
About halfway through the meal, the waitress brought the sweet-n-sour
chicken for my companion. It's not fun to eat when your company's food
hasn't arrived, but the meal tasted fine. But when the two elements of
food and folks aren't able to compliment each other, it is hard to appreciate
the meal as a whole.
The sweet-n-sour chicken was not as good as the General Tso's. The
fried shell was overcooked, and the green peppers and pineapple were still
cold. The sweet-n-sour sauce was very tasty, though. By that time the
egg roll was only room temperature. But, once again, the rice with soy
sauce was a bonus.
The restaurant is cozy, and it's a pleasant place to hang out with
friends while eating dinner. The prices are reasonable, especially if
you order one of the combination platters. The portions tend to be filling
and there are plenty of vegetarian dishes on the menu.
Overall, the dining experience at China Fortune fared well. Although
the food is great, the dining experience needs improvement.
Overall 7/10 on a 10 point scale.
