It's that time of year again, and Ohio University students' search for internships, summer jobs and permanent employment is on.

OhioUniversity's Career Services is helping students find employment by sponsoring the 15th annual Diversity Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at The Convo.

More than 100 nationally-recognized businesses and organizations will be on hand to meet with OU students and discuss employment opportunities, according to a news release.

Bill Fournier, assistant director of employer relations at OU Career Services, said this fair is a little different than the career fair held in the fall. No specific groups of students were targeted for that event.

"This one targets the different multicultural groups on campus to make sure everyone has equal opportunities for employment," he said. "This really fits in well with the programs they offer."

Fournier said Career Services worked with several of the multicultural groups on campus to ask for input and help so that all students would feel welcome. He stressed that even though certain multicultural groups were targeted, everyone is welcome to attend the fair.

Tiffany Boles, special events coordinator at Career Services, said the office worked with campus organizations like the Ohio University Recruiting Society and the Black Student Cultural Programming Board while planning the fair. The Office of Multicultural Programs helped promote the event.

As of yesterday, 101 different businesses and organizations had confirmed attendance at the fair.

Those scheduled include Nationwide, Ameritech, Battelle Memorial Institute, Phillip Morris USA, Americorps, Accenture and Charles Schwab. Several media organizations, such as the Dispatch Broadcast Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group, also will be represented.

Fournier said almost every major field will be represented in some fashion at the fair, but he encouraged students to talk to companies not attending to recruit specifically in their major.

"The big companies have everything," he said. "Even if they are at the fair looking for business majors, they can give your resume to other departments in the company, so talk to everyone who interests you."

Transportation will be provided from Baker University Center to The Convo for students interested in attending the fair, according to the release.

Students are encouraged to dress professionally, bring copies of their resumes and research companies in advance.
