New ATM to be located near Morton Hall
Students will be able to get money in a new location
when an automated teller machine is completed on East Green.
Construction on the structure, outside Morton Hall and across from
Shively Hall, began in December, said Phil Meyer, chief executive
officer of the Ohio University Employee’s Credit Union. Construction
is scheduled to be complete during the first week of February.
RVC Architects, 131 W. State St., designed the structure, Meyer
said. Drummond Construction of Lancaster was contracted to build it.
Meyer said OU issued a proposal for an ATM
to be built on campus about a year ago. The OU Credit Union responded
with a proposal to build outside of Morton.
Because the OU Credit Union is the university’s
credit union, Meyer said the company felt it was important to provide
a full-service ATM as conveniently as possible for faculty and staff
members and students.
“Through our studies and the information
we were able to obtain, (the location) is one of the highest foot
traffic areas on the OU campus,” he said.
No cost estimate was given, Meyer said.
The credit union has no plans to build other
ATMs at this time, Meyer said.
