Grand Jury issues indictments

The Athens County Grand Jury met April 24 and issued 25 indictments. Those indicted will enter pleas May 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Athens County Court of Common Pleas. Among those will be the following:

Russell D. Benner, 27, of Glouster; Anthony Carey, 19, of Guysville; George E. Webster, 25, of Murray City; and Benjamin R. Wemer, 25, of Millfield, are charged with aggravated robbery. They allegedly entered a room in a local motel and robbed the occupants at gunpoint March 31.

David L. Mullen, 38, of Glouster, is charged with burglary and felonious assault. Mullen allegedly broke into a Glouster residence, stole items and assaulted an elderly woman.

David M. Jedd, 20, of Middlesex, N.Y, is charged with aggravated possession of drugs and possession of cocaine. Jedd allegedly had MDMA, or ecstasy, and cocaine in his possession June 3, 1999. Jedd is an Ohio University student, but could not be reached for comment.
