Ehud Barak gave Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat a 48-hour
ultimatum to end the violence. The recent violence across
the West Bank and Gaza Strip started after a Sept. 28 visit
by hard-line opposition leader Ariel Sharon to the Jerusalem
shrine known as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Harem
as-Sheriff, or Nobel Sanctuary and has left at least 82 dead-
