Published poet to read works at OU

Award-winning poet Kathy Fagan will read from her published works at 8 p.m. today in Galbreath Chapel.

The Program in Creative Writing of the Department of English at Ohio University is sponsoring the event, said Jean Cunningham, event coordinator. The event will be free and open to the public.

Fagan's published works include "The Raft" and "Moving and St. Rage."

Fagan's poetry often appears in poetry magazines and newsletters around the country, including The Southwest Review, The Denver Quarterly, The New Republic and The Kenyon Review, Cunningham said.

Fagan has been awarded a Pushcart Prize for Poetry, Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship in Poetry and the Vassar Miller Prize for her poetry.

Fagan is an associate professor in creative writing at Ohio State University. Her next published work of poetry, "The Charm," is slated to be released from Zoo Press in 2002.
