Supplemental extra duty contracts were issued for the 2001-02 school year to Mary Ann Hopple, Tammy Hawk, Shelia Ross, Robert E. Marrs, Brett Lewis, Chuck Vogt and Brooke Maholn.

Substitute teacher contracts were issued at the rate of $65 per day for the first 20 days of service, then at the rate of $70 per day for the 2001-02 school year. Individuals receiving substitute teacher contracts were John Berenzweig, Joseph Cline, Jennifer Dickson, Kiesha Gasparac, Christine Hedderick, Gabriel Jaurequi and Jacob Massie.

A home instructor contract was issued to Judy Curry at the rate of $13 per hour on an as-needed basis for the 2001-02 school year.

Sue Reedy and Beth Arbaugh were assigned to special education positions at Chauncey Elementary and Morrison Elementary, respectively.

Superintendent Carl Martin recommended nine individuals as substitute employees in the Athens City Schools on an as-needed basis. Those individuals are Wayne Hanzel, Danita Coffman, L. Jayne Shields, Valerie Arnold, Carrie Reynolds, Tammy Rothfeldt, Lynda Withem, Daniel Norman and David Hamill.

The board created a new special education aide position in the district to take over duties for up to two hours per day. The position has not been filled yet. Salary will be based on a negotiated contract with the individual, Martin said.

The board also accepted a bus bid for the purchase of two new school buses from Marietta Truck Sales 7 Service at the cost of $53,370 per bus. A donation of a public address system and microphone boom stands, valued at $747.93 total, to The Plains Elementary School was accepted from Marie Baxter Spaulding, in honor of her late husband, Jeffrey R. Spaulding.
