Voice of Bart Simpson to speak at OU

Nancy Cartwright, familiar to most as Bart Simpson, will speak at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m. Saturday.

University Program Council arranged Cartwright's visit to Ohio University.

"We looked into bringing her for this weekend because it's Homecoming, and she is an alum of this university," UPC President Rachel Warner said.

The Emmy award winner attended OU from 1976-1978 as an interpersonal communication major and was awarded the Cutler Scholarship for academic excellence and leadership.

She transferred to UCLA in September 1978 to pursue her career dream in theater.

Cartwright was raised just south of Dayton and also has done voice-overs for characters in "My Little Pony," "Pound Puppies," "Animaniacs" and "Glo-Friends," as well as appearances on "Cheers" and "Mr. Belvedere."

In addition to playing Bart on "The Simpsons," she does the voices of Todd and Rod Flanders, Nelson Muntz and Ralph Wiggum.

T– ickets are $3 for students and $7 for non-students. They can be purchased at the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium box office.
