OU welcomes first group of Templeton Scholars

  • Eleven Ohio University students make up the first class of Templeton Scholars this fall.
The scholarship program is named after John Newton Templeton, who became the first African American to graduate from the university in 1828.
The award, created to attract academically talented multicultural students, covers the cost of in-state tuition, room and board and books for the academic year.
  • OU students can use their university meal plan to eat at a buffet at Peden Stadium one-and-a-half hours before the 7 p.m. kickoff at the OU game against Tennessee Tech University.
  • There will be an open house for gay, lesbian, bisexual transgender student programs from 2 to 5 p.m. today in 314 Baker University Center.
