Festival to honor native fruit this Saturday

The second annual Pawpaw Festival, celebrating North America's largest native fruit, will take place 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Albany Riding Club.

The event will feature live music, a pawpaw-eating contest, a competition for the biggest and best pawpaw, as well as a pawpaw cook-off. History lessons also will be offered, including an interactive look at the heritage of the pawpaw.

Admission is $1 - kids 12 and under get in free.
