University cause of parking problem

Editor,

I have lived in Athens for nearly 40 years, moving here in 1961 so my father could be part of the administrative staff at Ohio University. In 1961, OU had almost 6,000 students; most students lived on campus or in Greek housing, and nearly every neighborhood close to Uptown or campus was occupied by families who owned their own homes.

Since that time, the complexion of those neighborhoods has changed dramatically.

The university has at times in the past attempted to restrict the ability of students to bring cars to Athens, but all of those efforts proved futile. The university has done virtually nothing to address the parking problems of its students.

If you think it isn't the students causing the parking problems, then you just need to live here year-round and observe how many parking spaces are available when the university is on break.

Don't think that most Athenians look at the students as the cause of the parking problem. Those of us with enough common sense and insight know that the problem lies directly in the lap of the university administration. Why won't the university address its parking problem?

For The Post to call upon the city of Athens to address the parking problem is a little wayward.

Editor,

Attention Freshmen: You don't realize this because you weren't here last year, but your Yells are so bad that the only ones that are even remotely funny are the ones The Post is recycling from this time last year.

Upperclassmen, unite! We must save this faltering pillar of OU student tradition! Think of funny stuff that doesn't have to do with dorms and high school relationships!
