Postal carrier unhurt after being shot with pellet gun

TOLEDO - A postal carrier was shot in the shoulder by a pellet gun while delivering mail yesterday morning. She was not seriously injured.

Police were searching for suspects, detective Harold Mosley said.

Joann Bauer was delivering mail at a public housing project on the city's east side when she was shot, Mosley said. Bauer said a first shot missed her and a second shot hit her in the left shoulder.

She was treated for a bruise on the shoulder and released. Her age and hometown weren't available, said Craig Cummings, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service in Toledo.

"She'll be back on the job today," he said.

Neighbors told police that someone had been randomly shooting a gun in the past few days, Mosley said.
