Shops embrace varied nuances

As summer slowly changes into fall, several Athens
businesses are making changes too.
Court Street Bakery and Hole in the Wall Sub Shop, have joined hands
and combined into one store at the sub shop's location, 35 N. Court Street.
The beginning of the relationship started over a decade ago when
the Bakery began making the sub buns for Hole in the Wall, said owner
Roy Clonch. Clonch recently took over management of both stores.
Housing both stores under the same roof makes business easier for
simplicity's sake, he said. This way management is not spread too thin.
Clonch said there will be few menu changes, mainly combinations of
the two eateries. Also, delivery will include the Bakery's pizza by the
slice and baked items.
"If it's on our menu we will bring it to you," Clonch said.
But, this is no longer the case for The Pita Pit, 8 N. Court St.
Pita Pit has cancelled their delivery service temporarily because
of internal problems, said co-manager Stephanie Watson.
"The system wasn't exactly up to par," Watson said.
The store only hired one delivery driver and had problems with attendance
to work, therefore many nights the service had to be cancelled, she said.
The store still does offer advance orders for pick-up.
Prices also are changing in some stores around Athens, including
DP Dough, 374 Richland Ave.
The store, offering more than 40 varieties of calzones, has raised
prices in order to remain consistent with the franchise, said manager
Drew White. The calzones have changed from $5.00 to $5.50.
The strive for consistency also will result in a few menu changes,
White said. For example the specialized calzones like the Bobcat Zone,
made with sausage, green peppers, onions and mozzarella cheese, will be
renamed.
